To enable students to access your WebVista sites, please follow the steps below for each Vista site you wish to open to students.
Are Students Listed in the Grade Book?
If you go to the Grade Book and students are listed, then they should have access to your site via their myu.umn.edu My Courses page. This means you answered "yes" to the question on the Site Request Form, "Should students have access immediately?" when you requested the site.
If students are not listed in the Grade Book, send e-mail to the WebVista Admin/Support Team at webvista@umn.edu requesting that your site be opened. Include the title of the site that you see in the menu bar across the top of your site, and write the message, "Please open my site for students." Students will then be enrolled in your site with access allowed.
Soon, this step will not be necessary, as a tool is coming that will allow you to fetch stduents in yourself.
Once you receive a reply from the team, your students will be able to access your site from the myu.umn.edu My Courses page within six hours.
Important Notes About This Process
Use Grade Book Custom View
Use the Custom View tab in your Grade Book to view customized University of Minnesota data about your students, such as Add Date, Drop Date (visible if students have dropped), Section Number, Campus, and Call Number. We recommend that you do most of your Grade Book work in Custom View because any changes you make to the Grade Book will be shown there. If you want your column order to be available to students via the My Grades tool, do any Grade Book work in the View All tab.
Help Students Configure Their Browsers
After you follow these steps, your students must have their browsers configured correctly in order to see your site in their new "allowed access" mode. Please send your students to the Browser Configuration page for instructions.
